The DC History Center is delighted to welcome Gerren Price to its Board of Trustees. With over 15 years of experience directing and supporting large-scale programs and initiatives in the government and non-profit sectors, Price brings a wealth of knowledge and perspective to our community.

“I have always had a deep appreciation of the role of understanding local history in order to inform present day action and policy.  I believe there is great power in knowing history and have experienced how it can bring people together to promote positive change.”

Price currently serves as the President and CEO of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID). Previously, he served as the BID’s Director of Public Space Operations. In this role, he directed and managed the BID’s team of 80+ ambassadors and worked to ensure that the downtown area is clean, safe, welcoming, and economically viable.

Prior to joining the BID, Price served as Senior Associate, National Community Strategies at the Annie E. Casey Foundation where he managed a $25M investment portfolio advancing national place-based, two-generation approaches to serving whole families. Price has also held a variety of leadership roles with the District of Columbia Government including Deputy Director of the city’s workforce agency where he focused on leading the city’s youth workforce development strategy and Director of Programs for the District’s Department of Parks and Recreation.

“As an employee of the DowntownDC BID and now as its leader, I have witnessed firsthand the tremendous impact that the DC History Center has had on our downtown community and the city as a whole. I value the role the center plays as not just a researcher and keeper of history, but an institution that shares and celebrates that history in a way that is inclusive and thought-provoking.”

Throughout his professional career and personal life, Price has maintained an active leadership role in mentoring and tutoring including consultant support for DC workforce development company P.R.E.P., LLC, and work for the National Organization of Concerned Black Men, America Reads/America Counts, and the University of Pennsylvania Netter Center for Community Partnerships. Price resides in Washington, DC with his wife and two daughters. He holds a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.S./M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College.
