In late January, the DC History Center welcomed four new trustees!

This week we are introducing Adé Heyliger and Chinyere Hubbard, who both bring outstanding professional expertise and a deep personal love of Washington and its history to our board. We are honored to have them with us.

 

Adé Heyliger

Adé Heyliger is a partner in Weil, Gotschal & Manges LLP’s Public Company Advisory Group. He regularly advises public companies, corporate boards, and foreign private issuers on a broad range of Securities & Exchange Commission disclosure and regulatory matters, securities regulation, corporate governance and compliance issues. His diverse practice encompasses counseling companies on corporate and securities law compliance in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, capital markets transactions and bankruptcy/restructuring matters.

Adé is recognized as a “Leading Lawyer” for Shareholder Activism: Advice to Boards and is recommended for Corporate Governance by Legal 500 US. He is also recognized by Who’s Who Legal for M&A and Corporate Governance. Adé is a former Chair of the Federal Regulation of Securities: Proxy Statements and Business Combinations Subcommittee of the American Bar Association and a former Co-Chair of the DC Bar Association Mergers & Acquisitions Committee.  Adéholds a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He received his B.S. in Finance, cum laude, from University of Maryland.

 

Chinyere Hubbard

Chinyere Hubbard is an award-winning producer, communications expert, and skilled manager with 20 years of experience in communications and public relations.  She currently serves as the vice president of communications and marketing for Events DC, overseeing all public relations, marketing, and community engagement activities in support of Events DC’s sports, entertainment and cultural activities and venues. Events DC owns and operates Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the historic Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium and the surrounding Festival Grounds, and the non-military functions of the DC Armory. Prior to working for Events DC, she was the director of public affairs for the DC Sports and Entertainment Commission, an independent agency of the DC Government.

A resident of Ward 4, Chinyere currently serves on the boards of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and Cultural Tourism DC. She also sits on the DC Commission of Nightlife & Culture. She is a member of the Washington, DC Chapter of Jack and Jill, Inc., Potomac Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, and the Washington, DC Chapter of The Girl Friends, Inc. Chinyere received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Howard University.
