Deepening Understanding of Our City’s Past

Third graders look closely at events on the timeline in the DC Hall of History exhibit.

Education is at the core of our mission. At the DC History Center, we tell the diverse stories of our nation’s capital to a broad community of learners. We serve students and teachers. We welcome and educate newcomers and engage life-long learners. We celebrate, preserve, and present everyday life in DC in the context of the nation’s history. DC History Center’s educational programs, exhibits, and publications are designed to bring people together to satisfy their curiosity, learn each other’s stories, and develop respect for the larger community in which we live.
