The 51st DC History Conference welcomes students, community members, educators, artists, storytellers, and cultural heritage workers to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library and the DC History Center for our FREE, four-day event.
Whether you plan to attend all weekend, one day, or even just one panel, our free registration gives you access to the entire conference program. Donate $25, $50, or $100 at registration to support the work of the DC History Conference.
The DC History Conference is an interdisciplinary, community conference considering the District’s past, present, and future. Since 1973, the conference organizers have provided a welcoming, educational, and stimulating forum for original research on and engagement with the history of the Washington, DC metropolitan area—prioritizing the local city but including nearby Maryland and Virginia, and the federal government. To see the schedule at-a-glance, visit the conference website.
The 51st Annual DC History Conference is co-presented by the DC History Center, the DC Public Library, and Humanities DC; supported by our Organizational Partners and Sponsors; and organized by a volunteer planning committee. The DC History Conference is made possible thanks to generous support from sponsors and partners. To become a sponsor of the DC History Conference, email us at conference@dchistory.org.
