The Capital of Basketball is the first comprehensive history of DC-area high school hoops, written by longtime sportswriter John McNamara. After McNamara was killed in the Annapolis Capital Gazette shooting in June 2018, his wife Andrea Chamblee and fellow sportswriter David Elfin finished the book, deemed “a great sports book” in a recent New York Times review. The Historical Society of Washington, D.C. and Georgetown University Press present a book talk and signing with Andrea Chamblee on Thursday, January 16, 6:30-8 pm, at the DC History Center, 801 K Street NW. Join the conversation and learn more about the players, the coaches, and the games that have made DC-area basketball great for the past 100 years.
