Monica West is a third-generation Washingtonian and the Director of Community Engagement for Washington Gas, where she leads initiatives that build trust and meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders across the region. With a career defined by listening, advocacy, and partnership, Monica connects communities with the programs and resources that matter most to them — ensuring their voices are heard and valued.

At Washington Gas, Monica draws on the company’s 177-year legacy of service to the District to advance engagement strategies, forge collaborative partnerships, and promote initiatives that reflect local priorities. Her work bridges history and the present, creating opportunities for shared learning, civic pride, and lasting community impact.

Prior to Washington Gas, Monica served for a decade as Senior Program Manager for the District of Columbia, where she planned, developed, and administered comprehensive employment programs and services for residents across the city. Before that, she spent 14 years as Assistant Vice President of External Affairs at Chevy Chase Bank (now Capital One), leading strategy and expansion across community relations, philanthropy, promotions, and product marketing — all in service of corporate social responsibility, customer diversification, and business growth.

A resident of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Monica holds a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree from Bowie State University.
