Colorful graphic reads Family History Day for families

Become a junior genealogist at Family History Day! Build a family tree and design a family crest while you learn why family history matters.

What’s the origin of your last name? Where did your great, great-grandparents come from? Can your kids or grandkids answer these questions? We want to help!

Bring your families to the DC History Center on Saturday, April 29 for a day of genealogy fun! Creative activities take place 12 – 2 pm. During quick, scheduled pop-up talks, hear from our program partner Gigi Nelson and high school students from the Real World History class. Their family history stories will inspire your own curiosity and fuel your excitement to get started.

Learn why this journey is important for all ages and how to take it together, as a family. This program is best suited for children ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
