Founded in 1894, the DC History Center is the only organization devoted to deepening the understanding of Washington, DC’s past in order to connect, empower, and inspire.

DC History Center members are partners in our mission and participants in our evocative exhibits, stimulating public programs, and educational initiatives that bring history to life. Membership funds directly support the care of our priceless collections and underwrite our public programs, exhibits, and the enrichment of thousands of DC-area residents, students, teachers, and young people each year.
